Science Alive
(aka Scratch Science)is an experimental class designed to see how we can use scratch to help better understand the way the world works. We will start with experiments and the construct Scratch Models of the experiments to see if we can figure out how they work.

Activities
Velocity and Acceleration Game: Asteroids
We will construct the game (see link below) as a way to learn about velocity and acceleration.
Ping Pong ball launchers
First we need to create our launchers and test them out. Then we will figure out how to launch through scratch. Success - all the groups built working launchers. Now we are testing them out.
some videos on projectile motion:
Weight on a spring
We created models of springs and wieghts - check out the class page class scratch page
Final Projects
JAG - spaceship simulation - if you dont land the ship correctly - diaster
ILS - shooting game - shoot the navy seals before they shoot you and move to the next level
Bomb the house - simulation of what happens when you drop a bomb on a house
asteroid collision - simulation of the collision between a large and a small asteroid - if the speed and mass are large the asteroid breaks apart.
skater 1.3 - avoid the beach ball
bomb the stick figures - launch mortar shells at innocent civilians
castle attack - blow up the castle before the timer runs out
exploding guy - simulation
throw stuff - the game - throw stuff off a tall building and hit a target
Science Questions
We try to keep a list of interesting science questions that we could answer this summer:
