Writing an Action Research Proposal
From Eduwiki
The action research proposal is essentially the first part of the action research paper. The primary difference is that you put the methodology section into the future tense and include a detailed research timeline. The outline of your proposal should be something like:
Research Proposal Outline
- Introduction
- This is your chance to set up the motivation for the research. What is the educational issue you wish to solve or improve? What is the extent of the problem? How does your project seek to solve the problem? You may rely on your own experience as well as literature for this.
- Literature Review
- Describe the theory and prior research related to your project. Instead of summaries of papers, this should be a summary of what the literature says about the subjects. Use subheadings to let the reader know what your topics are. Your literature review should provide an argument for why your study is the next logical step towards solving the problem.
- Methodology
- A description of the participants, instruments, procedures and analysis that you will use in your study. Provide a timeline of the research to show its feasibility.
- Reference List
- Appendices
- This is optional at this stage, but if you have drafts of survey instruments, interview protocols, screen shots or other information they belong here.
