Game Strategies

Wow, this game is awesome. In this game you are a wolf trying to find a mate. You travel around Yellowstone National Park searching for a mate. In the mean time you need to be sure you kill or find dead carcasses that you can eat. The wolf can run, howl, bite, jump, you name it. Once you come in contact with another wolf it tells you what type of wolf and what gender. If it is a male wolf one will establish dominence. You can chose during the altercation what you(the wolf) would like to do. You can leave, stay, tell them you're not my family or try to establish dominence.

The game has a nice map feature that helped me out quite a bit. You need to hit "M" in order to see it. It gives you a map of the park and tells you where the wolf grounds are. In order to find a wolf you need to press "V" which is the scent mode. From here you find scents of animals. The scent of wolves are yellow. The scents tell you how close (in time) you are to the other wolf. It took me a long time to find a female wolf that liked me. Once I did we went back and forth telling each other we liked each other and that we wanted to start a pack. After 5 conversations and (lickings) we started a pack. That was the end of the first mission of the game. I really enjoyed this game. It was intuitive with great sound.

Another feature I enjoyed was chasing animals and hunting them. There are bears (which I did not hunt) and rabbits, coyotes, and elf. Although, every elk I saw was already dead, but still edible. The graphics were entertaining on this game and the option of running or walking helped depending on what I was doing at the time. I enjoyed this game.

Educational Implications

The educational implications of this game is to raise awareness about wolves and how they interact in the wild. The game teaches how wolves mate, hunt, form packs, live off the land and so on. It also teaches the user about the environment and what kind of environment is needed for a wolf to survive. This brings into consideration how humans are impacting thier environment. It also shows us the challenges wolves face from environmental issues to finding food and packs. I think this game has great potential to enhance students knowledge of wolfs and about their lives.

Finding a Mate

I liked the game but one of the task was to find a mate. It was hard to find a mate I went all over the map to find a mate and could not find one. I spent hours looking for one and no go. I found other female wolves and no luck.
