Warming up
From Eduwiki

This p-prim is based on the fact that things take time to get up to speed, or simply, change takes time. This p-prim makes sense in our world because all objects take time to change motion or speed. Instantaneous speed, such as the speed of light, is a foreign idea because we do not see it occur. A thrown ball picks up speed from the start of the throw until it leaves the hand of the thrower is an excellent example of this p-prim. Unfortunately, this p-prim is often applied incorrectly and a novice will believe that the ball will continue to pick up speed after leaving the had of the thrower because there is more time required for the ball to get up to "full" speed.
