Visual Literacy

Visual Literacy is the ability to "read" graphics that are used to convey information in different traditions. Like verbal literacy, visual literacy has vocabularies that are used by different communities (e.g. statisticians, scientists, architects). Students need to learn to understand visuals in order to be truly literate in a subject.
