Playing music in the classroom may:

  • provide a cue for students to get to work – calm students as they enter class
  • increase participation/motivation
  • create happier students
  • help students learn through songs – skills (signing) culture, history
  • make the students talk quieter or louder (not sure which way it would work)
  • score higher on math or other complex subjects (Mozart effect)
  • take off headphones
