Short Guide to Action Research Chpt 6
From Eduwiki
Chapter 6: The Beginning
The action research steps are to: 1. Identify a problem or research topic. 2. Set the problem or research topic in theoretical context. (literature review) 3. Make a plan for data collection. 4. Begin to collect and analyze data. (observations, surveys, interviews, etc) 5. If necessary, allow the question or problem to change as you collect data. 6. Analyze and organize the data. (percents, tables, etc.) 7. Report the data. 8. Make conclusions and recommendations. (make the action plan)
Finding your research topic: 1. Do you want to research a teaching strategy? (think-pair-share...) 2. Do you want to research a problem at your school? (food at your school, i would like to improve....) 3. Do you want to examine an area of interest? (do your students enjoy comedy? how can i use this in the classroom...)
What should you do if you are having trouble starting your action research? 1. Brainstorm and list 2. evaluate programs, policies, pedagogy, or plans 3. examine perceptions and attitudes 4. check for learning 5. make a case for your effectiveness as a teacher 6. evaluate practice as compared to the school mission statement 7. observe students
I know this one was brief guys, but no one did the summaries this week, so I went ahead and did both since I have not done any yet. Feel free to edit! :)
