Teaching with Images
They say a picture is worth 1000 words. If that is true then we can save students a lot of time with using picture. But how do we get/make the pictures that will teach the right 1000 words? What literacy do students need to have in order to understand pictures?
Teaching with Video
Like all multimedia, video can be a tool to present ideas or a tool for students to express their own thoughts. When we are presenting information we probably dont need to reinvent the wheel if their are useful videos already available. But we may need to edit them for improved understandability and to enhance the multimedia learning effect. So we need to learn to use some of the key tools.
Simulations for Learning
Creating computer simulation offers the greatest control of the multimedia because you control every aspect of it - not only the audio and video but the the potential to control sequence, interaction, feedback and reward. All of these things can be used to support learning.
