Cooperation First

* What the learner can do in cooperation today he can do alone tomorrow. Lev Vygotsky
Julian: Learners working together can gain better understanding than they would otherwise do alone. Having multiple perspectives guide a person's understanding leads to better knowing and thus enable a person to perform individually.
Jon: Back-packing on Vygotsky's Zone of proximal development, individuals can learn better in a group than just alone. Individuals who learn together will be able to use those new skills alone and succeed beyond his/her ability.
The process of communication brings so many dimensions to learning because in order to be able to teach another person, you need to be able to put your own understanding into words. In addition, people bring their whole social world view with them into every experience which influences the learning process.
